I am a high school teacher and I work with students with disabilities. I was born into a large Catholic family. I was the oldest girl of nine children. I learned very early about responsibility and hard work. My father was in the military and we moved often. I attended Catholic schools and went to Catechism classes. The God I learned about was a God to be feared. I continually thought I was going to hell and probably was bringing my brothers and sisters with me.
I persevered with my relationship with God but it really wasn’t a relationship. I said and wrote memory prayers and attended mass. But I did not feel connected to God. One day, a friend of mine who had been raised a Catholic, asked me to go to a different church. After much persuasion, I attended a spirit filled Church of Christ. I was amazed! The people actually sang and they looked happy. The minister gave a sermon I could connect with. I never went back to my Catholic church which was located just across the street. Every Sunday when I went down the road and turned left instead of right , I felt guilty and felt like I was sinning. But my new church embraced me and my children and I started reading my bible regularly ( what a novel idea!). It was when I met Regina at the Shepherd’s Guide, that I became more intimate with God. I never heard anyone pray like Regina in my life. Regina was spurring me on, teaching me many new things. She told me about Refreshing Winds Ministries, and I was fortunate to become part of this beautiful ministry. It has truly transformed my life.
