Watch What You Say

Watch What You Say

by Regina Henderson

December 2015

I’m excited about the opportunity to share with you a Word. I find the word “word” so very interesting. For those of you who know me, I always seem to have something to say. When I begin any kind of study, I always go to the beginning source to break down that “ONE” key word before I know what direction I’m taking it. Today we are going to start with “Said” (Say, Speak. Spoke)
In the beginning in 2015, the Lord spoke to me “Watch what you say.” I took that word as a word for me for the year and would think on it from time to time. I know that there is Power in our words, but had gotten lazy in my profession. God spoke in the beginning and it WAS. Genesis 1:3 “ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
By the middle of July, I was coming out of 15 months of major medical problems, 2 near death incidents, 3 times hospitalized, 4 series of back/hip injections, physical therapy, kidney stone crushing and countless other medical issues. I was struggling to survive on a daily basis, just going through the motions of life. The doctors were only giving me possible solutions and more series of trials, no solutions. After being so caught up in myself, I turned to the Lord and told him, he was going to have to heal me, as these doctors didn’t have any clue how to. Once again, I heard the Lord telling me. “Watch what you say.” My first thoughts were, I am, I remember you giving me that word, Lord. As I really starting thinking about what I was saying, I got it. I DID, I was saying ALL the wrong things, I was saying what the problem is, what the problem was and what the problem was going to be. I was even praying the problem, not the solution. Oh, every now and then, I’d throw in “By HIS stripes, I’m healed” but I didn’t feel healed, I hurt, I felt hurt and I didn’t know what to do to move past that. I found that I believed the lies of the devil and the pain more than I was the Word of God, I was double minded, torn between the world and the Word. I was lost in my problems, MY pain. I had allowed circumstances, situations, emotions and feelings to control my life instead of standing on the Word of God that does not wavier or come back void.
Psalm 107:20 (KJV) “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Once that I started speaking to the individual circumstances & situations instead of talking about the problem, I began to receive great favor, grace, mercy and manifesting of God’s healing power in my body and my spirit is souring. Speaking to the mountain. Matthew 17:20 (KJV) “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

I am not saying that I no longer experience any health issues, however, one day that will be my testimony. I stand believing for a complete manifestation of healing in my body, in the name of Jesus. Until that day, I am saying that in spite of what is going on in our lives, our bodies, our issues of life that God is bigger than all our problems, all our cares. Romans 4:17 “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
This life & body is but temporal, life in Christ is everlasting. We have got to get ahold of the only truth there is, GOD IS BIGGER. That does not mean we deny what is going on, we don’t lie about it, but we don’t celebrate it. We go forward with a confession “Lord, this issue looks like it is getting worst or bigger but in the name of Jesus I SEE it removed according to your Word, I stand on Matthew 17:20 and Mark 11:23 believing for a complete manifestation of healing in my body (or whatever the issue).”

Turn what the devil has meant for harm into the good for the Lord, the power is in your mouth (John 10:10 (KJV) “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

The Lord gave me a vision of a host of Angels on my right side and a host of demons on the left. As I open my mouth to speak, they were all setting on the edge of their seat, eagerly waiting to hear what assignment I was sending out. Words of the Lord or defeat/foolish/destruction? The vision was so very vivid, that EVERY WORD, I spoke has an assignment, it has a purpose. It is being spoken out into the atmosphere forever, think of that, once it has been spoken, it can’t be returned, you can’t pull the words back out of the air. The words we speak are seeds that produce after their kind. Just as sure as they are planted, you will equally sow a harvest, positive or negative.

What you believe and speak not only affects your body but your immune system as well. Your words become either a blessing or a curse to you. The words you speak are vital to your health and well-being. We have to be careful not to get into the trap of speaking word curses about ourselves or over others. The enemy has so programmed the minds of people, until instead of resisting him, they have sort of buddied up with him, and begun to talk his language, agreeing with the world. We have to train ourselves to speak God’s word.

James 3:10
“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”

Proverbs 6:1-2 (KJV)
“My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”

It takes time, discipline and dedication to renew your mind and develop in your words as well as God’s word. But the things we are continually confessing eventually become a part of us. It is true that God has provided healing for us through His word. But we must learn to appropriate that healing by making the Word a part of our daily vocabulary, no matter what we are told, what we see or how we feel. This does not come overnight but we can grow where it does become a common thing for us.

Proverbs 21:23 (KJV) “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”

Charles Capps (writes in God’s Creative Power Will Work For You), “The word of God conceived in the heart. Formed by the tongue, and spoken out of the mouth is Creative Power. God’s Word is Creative Power. The worlds were framed by the Word of God. Confessing the Word of God can also change your world. ”
Imagine whatever you have said or will say, will come to pass. That is power. Are you sure you want everything you say to come to pass?

Proverbs 4:20-22(KJV) “My son, attend to MY WORDS; incline thine ear unto MY SAYINGS. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For THEY ARE LIFE unto those that find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh.”

I’ve Said all that, EVERY Word has purpose, power and an assignment to encourage you, inspire you and assure you that you can live the Victorious life. Begin right now by taking a look at your speech. What are you speaking? Life or death? What Words are we applying to our daily life? Are we changing the world by the Words we say or is the world changing us by our words? Genesis 1:3 “ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Be creative, as God in the beginning, what do you need to speak life into? God has given you all power and authority. Begin speaking it and your life will never be the same.
