IT’S A DIFFERENT KIND OF WORSHIP

by Angela “Angie” Morgan

It’s a different kind of worship. The world that God has created brings the music this morning. My Sunday attire waits its turn in my closet. In this moment of worship, I present myself to the Lord in my house shoes and hubby’s old tee. The Lord says “Come and sit and I’ll meet you here.”

As I sit on my back deck, coffee in my right hand, pen in my left, I drink in the majesty of the world You have created.

The sun is just starting to peek over my neighbor’s trees and highlights our crepe myrtle that is in full bloom. The sun’s rays highlight it in such a way, that it almost appears to glow. I spot a few bees, drinking of the tree’s nectar.

A cardinal makes a quick pit stop at our bird bath.

I smile at our peach tree that is happily offering us its harvest.

A hummingbird shyly comes forth and nervously checks out the Rose of Sharon bush that is giving the last of its blooms.

My eyes land on the colorful owl wind chime that my own hands have created. I grin as it gently twirls. I marvel at the creativity You have poured into me, Lord. Yes, I give YOU the glory, Lord.

I can hear the birds singing, the squirrels are chattering and the crickets add their own melody. Every now and then, a bark enters in.

I take a large sigh as I am blown away by the quiet miracle of life that unfolds before me as another day begins. Your very glory, Lord.

My pastor once said ‘worship of God can be as simple as sitting on your back porch.’ Oh God, I totally get it! I am in awe of You, this morning!

Life has been so hectic and busy lately. But as I quietly sit here, my mind, my spirit and my body are renewed. I worship You, my King.

And as I write down my thoughts, You send a gentle breeze and cause my owl to quietly play me a tune. I can hear You quietly whisper “Good morning, daughter.”

I drink in Your Peace, but, alas, I must take it “to-go”. Yes, the day’s errands and tasks beckon me. Thank you, Lord, for slowing me down to just SIT and BE STILL as You minister to me through nature.

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. Psalm 27:4 NIV

Yahweh, You alone are my inheritance. You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion. You hold my destiny and its timing in Your hands. Your pleasant path leads me to pleasant places. I am overwhelmed by the privileges that come from following You! Psalm 16:5-6 TPT

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever. Psalm 16:11 NLT

Be still and know that I am God!… Psalm 46:10

Blessings, my friend
